To make New Town distinguishably highlighted in the Tourist Map of India, it has been conceived to establish a WAX MUSEUM in the city. The 6th and 5th floor of an asset, (WBHIDCO), situated just opposite the Central Gate of the Eco Park, was identified for establishing this WAX MUSEUM. The 6th and 5th Floor of Finance Centre is around 26000 Sq.ft of an area dedicated to the Mother’s WAX Museum.

To commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore, WBHIDCO Ltd. had taken the initiative to set up ‘Rabindra Tirtha’ – a Cultural & Research Institute, which was inaugurated by Smt. Mamata Banerjee, Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal on August 7, 2012. It is spread over an area of 4.89 acres & located in the heart of New Town with facilities including an Auditorium, Art Galleries, Exhibition Halls, Mini Cinema Hall & Music Room. There are also Cottages and Dormitories for providing accommodation to resident researchers.

The New Town Business Club is spread over 10 acres of beautiful landscape, and it is strategically located only 20 minutes away from the Kolkata Airport and minutes away from Commercial centers of the City. It is very near to both business and Commercial Hubs in the area.

The Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) has set up the Biswa Bangla Gate or Kolkata Gate on the Major Arterial Road (part of Biswa Bangla Sarani) in Narkelbagan, Action Area – I of New Town, Kolkata. The gate along with the restaurant is now open for public. The visitors gallery and restaurant is surrounded by glass, which will be part of the wall. From here, one can see a lot of parts of New Town, Rajarhat and Kolkata.[3] It is a type of Welcome gate and is built by HIDCO, under the government of West Bengal.

New Town Eco Park (Prakriti Tirtha) is an urban park in New Town, Kolkata and the biggest park so far in India. The park is situated on a 480 acres (190 ha) plot and is surrounded by a 104 acres (42 ha) waterbody with an island in the middle. The park was conceptualized by Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee in July 2011. West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) is the overarching body coordinating the construction of the park, along with different other government bodies responsible for the implementation of different works inside the park.

Nazrul Tirtha is a cultural and educational center dedicated to the rebel poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. The center is situated in Action Area – I of New Town, Kolkata. It is only 2.50 kilometers away from Rabindra Tirtha.

With around 34 years of experience in the Indian Administrative Service, Debashis Sen is a seasoned administrator with expertise and experience across diverse fields including, smart city, public finance, eGovernance, G2B/G2C service delivery, public infrastructure, ease of doing business, electoral reforms, sustainable development, startup ecosystem, investment facilitation and more. He has held senior administrative posts ranging from Additional Chief Secretary, Chief Electoral Officer, chairmanships of multiple development authorities among others. He has been the driving force behind some landmark initiatives of the Government of West Bengal in the urban development and information technology sectors. He has been trained at the Harvard University (conflict negotiation) and IMFInstitute (public finance).
